The latter half of the 1970s she was the lead guitarist for the hard-rocking all-girl band The Runaways. The group did not have much of a following in their home country of the United States. However, the group's popularity increased abroad, particularly in Japan. Ford had a long and prosperous career as a solo heavy metal artist after the group split up in 1979. After taking vocal lessons she released her solo debut album, 'Out for Blood'. This was followed by the release of her second album, 'Dancin' On The Edge'. Ford went missing for several decades from the world of music as the two albums failed to get any attention. The hit album "Lita" was released by Ford in 1988. Kiss Me Deadly was a huge hit as was the ballad Close My Eyes Forever and Kiss Me Deadly. However, her popularity was not long-lasting and she was absent in the world of music for many years. Her re-emergence was with the releases of "Black" which came out in 1995 as well as "Wicked Wonderland", almost 15 years after. The album she released was Time Capsule in 2016.
