Lita Rossana Ford (or Lita Ford, as she's popularly known as, was an American-born British singer and guitarist who was the leader of the only female hard rock band The Runaways during the late 1970s. The band was never able to the band to be a major hit in America however they did gain a fair amount of acclaim in other nations, especially Japan. Ford enjoyed a lengthy and prosperous career as a heavy-metal solo performer after the band split from 1979. After taking vocal lessons she released her solo debut album, called 'Out for Blood'. This was followed by the release of her second album, 'Dancin on the Edge'. Ford did not achieve much with either album and disappeared from the world of rock for about 10 years. Her biggest hit, 'Lita' was released in the year 1989. The single "Kiss My Deadly" as well as the ballad "Close My Eyes forever" were big hits. However, her fame was brief, and she went under the radar for a few years. Her return came when she released 'Black' in 1995. Then she released 'Wicked wonderland' almost 15 years later. Her latest album was released Time Capsule in 2016. Guitar Player Magazine has awarded her The Certified Guitar Legend Award.
